The Munetrix IRIP tool automatically populates the student's basic information and assessment scores in the IRIP document.The IRIP tool empowers users to generate an IRIP for a student and has several helpful features, such as: The Munetrix Academic Achievement Module provides users with access to an Individual Reading Intervention Plan (IRIP) tool in the Student Reporting application. In many districts, reading intervention plans are maintained in the form of a Google document, handwritten forms, spreadsheets, or other manual document formats. They are used to track the reading interventions and supports used with struggling students in grades K-3, as well as progress made. These reading intervention plans have different names in different states, such as: IRIP, IRP, IMP, etc. Several states have laws that require schools to implement reading intervention plans for struggling students receiving interventions or support in grades K-3. Also, some states have added provisions to retain students who do not demonstrate reading proficiency by the end of third grade, while others have provisions for promotion with additional supports or intervention requirements. The titles of these laws vary from state to state, such as the Read by Grade 3 Law in Michigan or the Third Grade Reading Guarantee in Ohio. These laws require students to read at or above proficiency level by the end of third grade. Over 30 states across the nation have passed third grade reading laws. ⏰Estimated Time: 2 minutes Individual Reading Intervention Plans and Reading Laws The Munetrix IRIPs tool helps districts document interventions taken with students in grades K-3 who are not proficient in reading. Wayne RESA is delighted to collaborate with literacy leaders throughout the county to provide this resource.Student Reporting: IRIP - Individual Reading Intervention Plans Several states require young students to demonstrate reading proficiency by the end of grade 3. ![]() Parent resources will also provide strategies and activities to bridge and strengthen home-to-school learning connections. Sample parent toolkits are being developed to provide clarity around the law and guidance for “Good Cause Exemptions”. The workgroup is in the process of creating templates and forms that districts can utilize in order to communicate and document intervention activities. The purpose of this workgroup is to collaborate and identify possible resources needed to comply with the legislative requirements. In an effort to provide guidance to local districts and schools around the new early literacy law, Wayne County RESA has created a Third Grade Reading Workgroup consisting of curriculum directors, literacy specialists, and educational leaders from local districts throughout Wayne County. Wayne RESA recognizes the impact that this law could have on local districts and their communities. Parents will be provided with a “read at home” plan that would extend learning and strengthen reading skills, in addition to the interventions provided by the teacher and/or school’s literacy team. Students experiencing deficiencies would be required to have an individual reading plan created in partnership with their teacher, the principal, and their parents. This early literacy bill requires districts and schools to assess the reading skills of all K-3 students at least three times per year in an effort to identify struggling students. Beginning with the 2019-2020 school year, third-graders could be retained if they demonstrate reading proficiency levels that are more than one level behind. In October 2016, The Michigan Legislature passed a critical law that will have tremendous implications upon current kindergarten students. ![]()
